Fraxel Laser is most commonly used for skin tightening and eliminating mild to moderate wrinkles.  It is also frequently used to treat scars from acne, sun damage or conditions such as melasma.  Fraxel Laser is a resurfacing technology for the epidermis, which is the outer layer of the skin.  While it is an alternative to surgical options and fillers, it can also be used in conjunction with both techniques.

There are three types of Fraxel Laser treatment: Fraxel Refine, Fraxel Repair and Fraxel Restore.  Each type involves a different level of intensity at resurfacing the epidermis.  Fraxel Laser usually requires multiple treatment, and two to four treatments are typically required before achieving noticeable results.  Each treatment takes approximately 20-40 minutes and can be performed with no discomfort to the patient.  During your consultation, Dr. Feldmar can discuss which treatment best suits your needs.

Restylane is an FDA-approved dermal filler that restores volume to the skin, lifting and smoothing out wrinkles and fine lines. The procedure can also be used to add volume and shape to the lips.  The treatment is most commonly used to treat glabellar lines, vertical creases on the forehead between the eyebrows, and nasolabial folds, natural creases which run from the outer corners of your nose to the corners of your mouth.  Both become more prominent over time.

The results of this procedure are immediate and can last for several months, depending on the condition of the individual patient’s skin.

Anyone who wants fuller lips is a candidate for this procedure.  Depending on the needs of the person, this procedure can be accomplished on a permanent basis with a surgical technique, or on a temporary basis. The procedure can involve one or both lips, although most patients prefer to do both lips. Lip enhancement is very popular because it produces immediate results, which can be subtle or dramatic, according to the wishes of the patient.

The non-surgical, temporary procedure for lip enhancement uses Restylane or Collagen dermal fillers which are both absorbable.  Restylane is made from a component of naturally occurring joint fluid and lasts from two to nine months, depending on the patient.

Because of the many options for this procedure, Dr. Feldmar is happy to take the time during your consultation to review your choices and discuss the least invasive, most comfortable approach to achieving your goals.

BOTOX® is a highly purified protein that is commo
nly used to eliminate certain facial wrinkles.  It is very effective and works by blocking the nerve impulse into the offending muscle. The effect can last up to four months. The most commonly treated areas include the forehead, the area between the eyebrows, wrinkles near the eyelids, and “smoker’s lines” on the lips.  Botox is FDA-approved and has an excellent safety record over the twenty years it has been in use, including a very low incidence of side effects.  If you are concerned with wrinkles in your forehead, you may also wish to consider a browlift, which is a more permanent solution.  Dr. Feldmar can discuss both option during your consultation.

Scupltra is a dermal filler which fills out wrinkles or uneven areas of the face.  Sculptra restores and corrects the signs of facial fat loss by replacing the lost volume.  It also provides an increase in skin thickness which creates a more natural facial appearance.  Sculptra has been widely used for many years in surgical products and its effects are long-lasting.  In a clinical study, they were shown to last for up to two years after the first treatment.

Dr. Feldmar also offers a procedure that combines Botox with Collagen. When used together, Botox® Cosmetic softens wrinkles and Collagen fills in the creases, becoming an instant mini-makeover with lasting results.  Collagen is a natural protein that is part of the human body. Injectable collagen has been FDA approved for almost thirty years. Its longevity depends on the patient’s lifestyle, physical characteristics, and the part of the body treated.
